Badbury Rings
This hillfort coed with trees is a conspicuous feature in the countryside of East Dorset, near Kingston Lacy. It is enclosed by three lines of ramparts and ditches and has two main entrances : one on the east and one on the west. The fort has not been excavated. Two Roman roads, the Ackling Dyke which runs from Dorchester to London, via Salisbury and the road from Bath to Poole, cross each other at about 200 metres north-east of the fort.

The actual place is now ploughed out, but the Ackling Dyke actually touches the outer rampart on the north side of the hillfort. This photograph was taken in July 1997 from the south. FR 229/33
