Durdle Door, W Lulworth.

The archway of Portland stone, which from the ground appears huge, seen here in the centre of the picture, from air looks like a tiny speck in the Dorset coastline. Earth movements have resulted in folding the rock layers into an almost vertical position. Durdle Door can be approached by land from Lulworth Cove or from Daggers Gate. To the right of the archway is the western side of St Oswald’s Bay and the Man o’ War Rocks.

On either side of Durdle Door there are good shingle beaches. Photo taken from the S in August 1994 - FR 123/34.
