All customers connecting via our network are protected behind firewalls, this means that customers can access the internet & the outside world, but the outside world cannot access our customers. Basically this protects customers computers from being attacked.

Sometimes a customer will want to transfer large files to their computers. One way to do this is in an email attachment. But email is an inefficient and error prone way to transfer large amounts of data. A much better way to do this is by using a dropbox.

First you must download & install the dropbox software onto all machines that need to share data. A link to a supplier of exceptionally good (& free) dropbox software is at the end of this Answer.

When you install the dropbox software it will create a File Folder on your PC or MAC called "My Dropbox", this is your Dropbox. Any files or folders that you place in your Dropbox are automatically copied to every other PC that you have installed the software onto.

There are lots of other things you can do with dropboxes & its probably best to experiment with the tool first.

At SWI we use dropboxes for sharing data & information all the time & this is a Highly recommended tool.
